"Australia had scored 359 and India now has to chase 360 to win the game" that statement created a lot of ruckus among the Indian fans before the second innings. There was a state of pessimism in the fans may be because of the last match performance of team India against Aussies at pune.
Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan came to the crease made 176 in 26.1 overs and after the wicket of Shikhar, Virat Kohli came to the crease and played the flashy innings of 100 off 52. which cruise india to a emphatic victory over Aussies. Isn't sound so easy?? But it was not that easy as it sound it required lots of determination and class, with aggression to chase down that Colossal target.
Actually it was he who laid the foundation for the chase with his breakneck play right at the start where India found difficult against mighty Australian bowling attack in first game. He used the crease well and not allowed any Aussie bowler to settle. He scored 95 off 86 with 14 fours at a Strike Rate of 110.46. On a tinge green pitch of Jaipur he had made Aussies fast bowling ineffective with his aggressive play.
Since his comeback against Australia in test matches earlier this year, he never looked back. He is going through a purple patch of his career, he scored 3 hundreds and 3 fifties in 16 matches, with a golden bat in champions trophy, a major tournament of ICC since his comeback.
"We started off very well and once we got the momentum, we just carried on. Both (Rohit and Dhawan) are doing a good job for the country. We didn't want to play rash shots early, we opened up only later. I am happy for Rohit that he got the century today, because he was playing well in the last few months." he said after the match.
"One of the most talented and under rated cricket in Indian team, who is not playing to his potential". this was the most common line used for Rohit sharma before he was appointed as a Mumbai Indian team - his IPL team - Captain. It was change of the role for Rohit, who now had to lead his senior likes Sachin and H Singh but he rose to the occasion and made his team IPL and CLT20 champion, which concluded just before Australia series.
That confidence reflected in his batting in both the tournaments and in his series as well. He made unbeaten 141 in 123 balls with 17 balls and 4 sixes at strike rate of 114.63. He was also selected Man of the Match for his match innings.
"It was very important for me to play the big innings. It took a long time coming, but I would like to say that the hardwork never stopped. I wanted to bat throughout the innings, I agree that I have played some stupid shots to get out, but this was much needed. Both Shikhar and I understood the pitch and managed the chase, and Virat came and played a strong innings and his innings needs a mention as much as any." he said
At Present moment, he is India's most successful batsman specially when it come to chasing big scores. In his last 10 matches where Kohli made century while chasing, India had won these matches. This is enough for suggesting his importance in India's middle order.

But in that game he did something different, he made 100 in just 52 ball with 8 fours and 7 sixes at strike rate of 192.30. which placed him right at top of the list of fastest hundred for India.
"I kept telling Rohit that it was his day today, but i kept hitting the
ball very well. I didn't bat in the nets yesterday, just had a few throw
downs. I wasn't worried about the short-pitched stuff, i pulled a few
of them early and then they started bowling half-volleys. Rohit is the
best of the young lot that we have and he is the most dangerous T20
player, so it was a privilege to watch him from the other end."
