KKR winner of IPL7

Kolkata Knight Rider won their second IPL title in a span of three IPL’s. They were calm, focused and relaxed throughout their batting otherwise chasing a 200 runs target in finals wouldn’t be easy for them.

With these win they are set the record of most successive win in an IPL session. They had won nine successive win in one session. Gautam Gambhir has become the only captain after MS Dhoni who has two IPL title on his name.

With Batsmen like Robin Uthappa, Gautam Gambhir, Manish Pandey and Yusuf Pathan, they had the fierce batting line up which can chase any score. Though their Maximum score in whole tournament was around 170 but in final they chased down 200 runs in 19.3 over’s.

Robin Uthappa was the spearhead of their batting. He was the leading runs scorer for KKR and in the tournament. He had scored 660 runs in 16 matches and won Orange Cap in this session.

Manish Pandey, though played some good innings every now and then, wasn’t in his prime form before finals. He must be save his special innings for the finals. He was played one hell of an innings in final which guided his team to the victory. He had scored 94 off 50 balls with six sixes and seven fours.

Experts throughout the tournament said that “KKR has a best bowling set up in this tournament. And KKR had proving them true all through except in final where their bowlers gone for plenty which include Sunil Narine as well. He went for more than 40 runs in his four over’s.

But just one game can’t washed away their all the good work in 15 previous games. They were sharp and crispy, and everyone played their role pretty well. Sunil Narine had missed his test match for West Indies for IPL Final but at the end his decision proved to be worthy. He finished this IPL at second Position in leading wicket takers with 21 wickets.

Morne Morkel, a Proteas fast bowler was another foreign player who had gave his excellent service to them. He was quick and sharp in Powerplay’s. Not only his bowling but also proved to be an asset for team. Indian bowlers like Piyush Chawla and Umesh Yadav was too fantastic in their roles.

After first seven games of Knight’s nobody thought that they would going to win from there. They were persisted with their theme KORBO LORBO JEETBO and finally have a trophy once again.

KXIP a team who won the heart

Kings XI Punjab lost the Final game but certainly won many hearts from their performance throughout this tournament. If one compares their previous six sessions with this one then certainly one must realize and recognize their hard work to come to his far.

KXIP TEAM
© BCCI
They had literally been trashed in all six session in which they finished among bottom three almost all the time. But session, IPL7 had promised much more than just an improved performance than previous sessions for them.

They had taken all the right decision from the auction to finals. Weather it was inclusion of Virender shewag or appointment of George Bailey as Skipper or retaining an inexperience Manan Vohra to team, all these seemed to be going in their ways.

Glenn Maxwell had been proved to be a crucial buy for them. He was fantastic and one of those guys along with Miller who provide them the initial impetus in tournament. He was the leading runs scorer for them with 552 runs in 16 matches.

KXIP wasn’t just all about big foreign or Indian players. They had some great young Indian talent as well. Manan Vohra, Akshar Patel, Wriddhiman Saha, Sandeep Sharma and many others who performed whenever they got a chance to showcase their abilities.
Wriddhiman Saha was proved to be an exceptional player for them. The wicketkeeper batsman scored a century when its matter, Yes in Finale!! But his effort of bring KXIP from nowhere to 199 runs gone in vain.

Akshar Patel was another special talent came to the fore in this IPL. Left-arm spinner had impressed everyone with his consistency and also the ability to bat and field as well. He was awarded with “Emerging Player award”.

Sanjay Banger, the man who working with these boys from behind, surely deserve a lot accolades for his fantastic job. He was the brain (Of course along with many) behind their success.

Although, they lost the finale but undoubted they were the best team of this IPL. They had chased down many 200+ scores with so easy. It would be wrong if one says that they were the one who raised the standard of this year’s IPL so high.

Shahrukh was ecstatic!!

Kolkata Knight Riders' co-owner Shahrukh Khan was ecstatic after his team win on Sunday. SRK who known for his roles in romantic Bollywood flicks was jumping waving to his fans, doing cartwheels after the win.

Game for Final!!

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), are the top two teams of this years IPL who will be playing against each other on Friday at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

© BCCI
KXIP had lost their last game, QUALIFIER 1, against Kolkata Knight Rider's on Wednesday (Noon). While CSK had won their game, ELIMINATOR, against Mumbai Indian's on Wednesday (Evening). Punjab had finished the league stage at top spot with 22 points and CSK had finished third with 18 points.

Both teams had faced each other twice in league stage and on both occasions KXIP had been came out as winner. But one can't take this as a criterion to choose his favorite because when it comes to nerve racking encounter MS Dhoni is simply the best man to go with.

ABOUT KXIP:

KXIP have a mighty batting line up which on their day can rip any bowling apart and who know this better than Chennai. (Ask Ashwin!!). Opener Virender Shewag and Manan Vohra are providing them the much needed starts and Maxwell and Miller in middle order makes that their line up a horror story for bowlers.

In Bowling, Sandeep Sharma's ability to swing with new ball had gave them early wickets. Young spinners like Akshar Patel and Karanveer Singh have been bowling really well in mid-overs.

But the problem with KXIP is that they are not played as good cricket as they had played in earlier stage of the tournament. And consecutive failure of their star batsman, Glenn Maxwell would be a reason of worry to them

ABOUT CSK:

Dwayne Smith, Brendon McCullum and Suresh Raina are the most deadly top three batsmen of this season.
All of them have more than 350 runs individually in this season. Players like Faf du Plessi, David Hussey, MS Dhoni and R Jadeja have makes their lineup deadly.

With fielders like Raina, Jadeja, Faf, McCullum and Smith, you often see them fly over ground. They have certainly save 10-15 runs from their fielding which is asset for the team.

In bowling, though, they do not have big names except Ashwin as they have in batting. But Ishwar Pandey and Ashish Nehra are doing quiet pretty job for them. Ashwin and Jadeja are Dhoni's go for bowlers and if they bowl in right areas it will be a huge boost for their bowling.

Even if you put all theses thing aside it will be cracker of crowd.

KKR : A team on a Mission

"KORBO LORBO JEETBO", Kolkata Knight Rider seems like following their mantra quiet well in this session. They are fantastic in this session in all departments and they are looks like a team on a mission.
Gautam Gambhir
© BCCI

They had won seven games in a row before winning the qualifier 1 against the King XI Punjab on Wednesday. In other words, they are unbeaten in last eight games which will be booster for them in final on Sunday at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Kolkata's batting after initial struggle for finding a right opening combination and their skipper Gautam Gambhir's poor show in first few games, came out very strongly. New opening partner of skipper seems to be the reason for this change. Robin Uthappa is in good touch and his performance in last ten games says it all. He has scored 40+ score in all ten games and a total of 665 in 15 games. With that score in his kitty he is also a Orange cap holder.

Middle order which comprises of players like Manish Pandey, Yusuf Pathan, Shakib Al Hasan and Ryan ten Doeschate is also playing their parts really well. How can one forget the innings of Yusuf Pathan against Sun Riser Hyderbad, which help them to finish at second spot in league stage and allow them to play in home conditions.

May be in fielding they are not as brilliant as others team but players like Ryan ten Doeschate, Chris Lynn and Morne Morkel are always there among the top catches list of this session.

About Bowling!! What one can say about a bowling line up which has Sunil Narine and Morne Morkel in it. If one says that KKR has a best bowling line up in this year’s IPL,then he is just so right!! Three spinners, in which, one is mystery spinner(Sunil Narine), Second is left arm, who is also known as world’s top all rounder (Shakib Al Hasan) and third is leg spinner with effective googly (Piyush Chawla). Two Seamers with 140 Kmph speed and one of them is world’s leading fast bowler (Morne Morkel). You do not want any better than that in T20 cricket.

One Important reason for their success is that they keep things simple, for which a lot of credit goes to Skipper Gambhir. They are playing with simple strategy of giving bowls to their wicket taking bowlers at crucial points in a game.

In powerplay’s, Morkel bowls 3 overs and Narine one over. One over of Narine and Morkel in middle overs. Two overs of Narine in the depth overs. That what they are doing in almost all the game, they had won.

With all this armory in their teams they are the force to beat in Final.

Decision on Raj Kundra's presence in CltT20 will be on Aug 2

A decision on whether Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra will be present at the venue during the Champions League Twenty20 will be taken after the IPL Governing Council formally clears the NRI businessman in the IPL spot-fixing and betting scandal.

Raj Kundra, Rajasthan Royal co-owner
"We are very happy to know that Mr Kundra's name has been cleared of any wrongdoing during the BCCI working committee meeting. The franchise will come out with an official statement once the IPL governing council ratifies the decision of the working committee," a senior Royals official told PTI.

Asked whether the co-owner of the Jaipur-based franchise will be there in the stands to cheer the team during the upcoming Champions League Twenty20, the official said,"A call in this regard will be taken after the IPL governing council meeting on August 2."

"As of now, the BCCI hasn't made any formal contact with us or issued a notification about clearing Kundra."

Kundra was questioned by the Delhi Police's Special Cell for allegedly betting during IPL-VI matches. The BCCI, in one of its earlier working committee meetings, suspended Kundra pending inquiry.

However, the franchise official said it was indeed a very challenging time during the business end of the last edition when three Rajasthan Royals players S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were arrested by Delhi Police on charges of spot-fixing.

"It was really a challenging time for all of us at the Rajasthan Royals. But we have always had full faith in judiciary. The management cooperated fully with the police authorities and they also carried their job in a very professional manner.

"Now, in a few weeks' time, the preparations for the Champions League T20 will also start in right earnest.
