After winning the toss against new West Indian captain and their CSK team mate Dwayne Bravo, Indian captain MS Dhoni elected to bowl first in the overcast condition at Oval.

Indian bowler successfully restricted the Chris Gayle who always be a dangerous player in any condition. Gayle got out cheaply on 21 off 18 balls. Opener Johnson Charles started well and looked in good touch before he fell on 60 off 55 balls. when it looks that Indian could restricted the West Indies under 200, Darren Sammy came up with some responsibility and scored unbeaten 56 off 35 out of which 51 he scored with Kemar Roach for 10th wicket partnership. He not tried to just play full 50 over but played his natural attacking game. Its because of his contribution West indies were able to a total of 233/9 before India. India bowlers started well and gave away only 80 in first 15 overs but the real show started with the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja. he seems like taking his Sir tag seriously, in every second game he came up with a brilliant show either by batting or bowling. In that time its his bowling who made people say "SIR JADEJA". For his match winning figure of 5/36 he later got the Man of the Match.

 He was well supported by all Indian bowler, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin as they all taken 1 wicket each.

Indian batting looked sorted, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan provided them the start India wanted, they both put 101 on board when Rohit departed. After Rohit, Dhawan was joined by Virat Kohli who played hi 100th match.

Shikhar Dhawan' dream run continued since his debut in test cricket, after a century in 1st match against South Africa he scored unbeaten 102 off 107 in this match too. Dinesh Karthik, who scored 51* in 56 balls and he crusies India to 8 wickets victory over West Indies.

Match 1: India vs South Africa , CT-2013

India started their champions trophy campaign against strong proteas side. India after winning both their practical came to this game with full of confidence while on other side south africa lost their last practice match against pakistan but more than that their fitness of Dale Steyn was their woe before the match which later couldn't make it for the game at last.

African captain AB de Villiers won the toss and decided to bowling first. India started with a new opening duo, Dhawan and Rohit sharma, they provided the much needed opening stand for India in which India lacking in past few months. they added 127 before sharma was out on 65 in 81 balls.

But that didn't stop Dhawan to scored his maiden ton in ODI's. he scored 114 in just 91 balls.

After the outstanding batting of one mustache guy, Dhawan another mustache man, Jadeja joined the party the party. he scored 47* in just 29 balls with strike rate of 162.06, provided India the much needed momentum at the end. India finish their innings at 331/7 and African's needed to score 332 to win the game.

A confident Indian bowling attack after thrashing Australia in practice match looked great and two early wickets was just the result of that, Ingram on 6 and Amla on 22.

Though AB (70) and Peterson (68) provided some assistance to proteas chase but after their departure proteas inning was in deep trouble. Mclaren was the last and alone man standing for the end, he scored 71*. they fell 26 runs short from India and finished 505/10.
