MI beat RR, Match Report

Mumbai Indians beat Rajasthan Royals by 33 runs in the final of Champions League T20 at Ferozeshah Kotla, Delhi on 6th Oct. Mumbai just out played Royals in the final. Yes there were moments for Royals but they failed to capitalize these moments.

On the toss, Royal's after winning it, chosen to bowl first. The decision by Royals was bit obvious because they prefer to chase the target rather than batting first and set target for opponents and they did the same in many occasions.

Mumbai were slow to start and their score after first six overs was 46/1. Only wicket they lost in the power-plays was Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar's wicket. he scored 15 off 13 balls. Mumbai Indian was really started off from 13th over in which they scored 16 runs and before that their score were 82/2.

In the last 8 overs they had scored 120 runs with help of Glenn Maxwell's later Breakneck batting . He scored 37 in just 14 balls with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes at SR of 264.28. Along with Maxwell's innings there were knocks of Dwayne Smith (44) and Rohit Sharma (33) which given that freedom for Maxwell to go on full monty. Mumbai had scored 202/6 which wasn't the easy goal for Royal's to acheive.

In bowling for Royals only Pravin Tambe managed to take couple of wickets at an impressive econ of 4.75. Except Tambe, every bowler gave away runs at a Econ of more than 10. Faulknar, Shukla and Cooper picked up an wicket each.

Rajasthan Royal started brilliantly and there was a intent in their batting. At one point they were way ahead of Mumbai when Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson playing for second wicket. They both together put on 109 on board before Samson was caught by Harbhajan Singh. Samson had scored 60 0ff 33 balls at a SR of 181.81.

After that partnership, there was nothing for royals in this match. Wastson (8), Binny(10), Cooper(4), Rahul Dravid (01) were failed to utilize their position at that time in the match.

Mumbai spinners proven to be their strong men in bowling department. Harbhajan's 3 wickets in one over changed the complete scenario of the game towards Mumbai. Harbhajan scalped 4 Royal's wickets at an Econ of 8.00. Pragyan Ojha, who picked up 1 wicket at an Econ of 6.06. A medium fast bowler, Kieron Pollard also picked up 3 wickets.

After Raina's departure its looked like an end of Super King's innings but again its cricket and if you ever trying to be a pandit of this game it prove you wrong, that's what happened when Ravichandaran Ashwin came to the crease with many. He along with the Morris made 73 off 43 balls for 8th wicket and even for seconds, made Royals fan and captain worry. he made 46 off 28 before he was caught at mid on.

Pravin Tambe - one the oldest player in this league - was the top notch player for Royal's. He scalped 3 crucial Super King wicket that placed his team right at the top after 13 overs. Watson, Faulkner and Shukla picked up a wicket each.

Decision on Raj Kundra's presence in CltT20 will be on Aug 2

A decision on whether Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra will be present at the venue during the Champions League Twenty20 will be taken after the IPL Governing Council formally clears the NRI businessman in the IPL spot-fixing and betting scandal.

Raj Kundra, Rajasthan Royal co-owner
"We are very happy to know that Mr Kundra's name has been cleared of any wrongdoing during the BCCI working committee meeting. The franchise will come out with an official statement once the IPL governing council ratifies the decision of the working committee," a senior Royals official told PTI.

Asked whether the co-owner of the Jaipur-based franchise will be there in the stands to cheer the team during the upcoming Champions League Twenty20, the official said,"A call in this regard will be taken after the IPL governing council meeting on August 2."

"As of now, the BCCI hasn't made any formal contact with us or issued a notification about clearing Kundra."

Kundra was questioned by the Delhi Police's Special Cell for allegedly betting during IPL-VI matches. The BCCI, in one of its earlier working committee meetings, suspended Kundra pending inquiry.

However, the franchise official said it was indeed a very challenging time during the business end of the last edition when three Rajasthan Royals players S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were arrested by Delhi Police on charges of spot-fixing.

"It was really a challenging time for all of us at the Rajasthan Royals. But we have always had full faith in judiciary. The management cooperated fully with the police authorities and they also carried their job in a very professional manner.

"Now, in a few weeks' time, the preparations for the Champions League T20 will also start in right earnest.
