Gayle played some fantastic shot in his 35 runs innings and had hit four fours and a six. He fell when West Indies was at 87 runs and his wicket left them at 87/5. What his wicket did was it opens up the tail before Indian spinner having Chanderpaul at one side.
Although West Indies had few batsmen left but one can still said that their tail was started after Gayle’s wicket because before Indian spinners they were playing like the tail, they were miserable if one may allow saying so. One more thing which encourages one to call them the tail was their performance in this series.
Deonarine (0), Sammy (1) and Shillingford (8) all didn’t bother the scoreboard to much. In between all this, Shivnarine Chanderpaul (41) and Dinesh Ramdin (53*) tried to make a partnership or one can say that“Delayed the Indian victory”. Both of them added 68 runs for seventh wicket.
Indian spinner started from where they left on second day. Though Ashwin and Ohja got hammered by West Indies batsmen at start but they bounced back and finished the game for India in first session.
Ohja picked up five wickets and had completed his ten wickets haul in a match. M Shami also got a last consolidated wicket (only wicket for pacer in second innings for India). One special man, yes, Sachin Tendulkar also bowled out a couple of overs. For India bowling figures:
